The [formaly know as Dr. Vernon L.] Watson Arts Centre was built in 1905. The Centre originally housed the Dauphin Town Hall, Fire Station and R.C.M.P. Detachment. Through the years this multipurpose building has seen a variety of uses and changes. Many organizations have shared the spaces within its walls including the Library, Scouts, Town Bands, a Public Restroom and ARC Industries. The Dauphin and District Allied Arts Council took over the management of the building in January, 1973, when a group of local arts supporters under the leadership of Dr. and Mrs. Watson became aware that the fine old building was at risk of demolition.
