  Susan Brown and Friends
Edit Review Susan Brown and Friends  Acoustic
Susan Brown and Friends is an acoustic ensemble based in Abingdon, Virginia that delivers an eclectic mix of folk, bluegrass, country and swing. The group has performed at Bristol's Rhythm and Roots Reunion, Appalachian Trail Days, the Virginia Highlands Festival, Virginia's Barter Theater and other local events. Singing lead vocals is Susan Brown, whose voice has been described as "a blend of Alison Krauss and Emmylou Harris with a bit of rock-and-roll thrown in for good measure." Susan grew up in Virginia listening to the traditional country music her parents tuned into on the radio and later gravitated toward the sounds of girl singers and songwriters: Nicolette Larson, Amy Grant, Alison Krauss, Jewel, RobinElla, and Mindy Smith. She lives in Abingdon with husband (and mandolin player) Mike, their two children and a dog named Jeanie.
